to dig or not to dig?

    Had this discussion with Michele the other day. I was saying that come the back end we could do with digging in more organic material to improve our clay soil but she says we only need to scatter it and that it will work itself in. Really she doesn't want to disturb all the bulbs but I reckon that it is still better to dig in and turn the soil (saving the bulbs). Who is right? Or are both views valid?

    Digging in proberly would be best, but the worms will still do a good job. I would dig in if its a new bed, but not if there was already stuff in it.

    Use it as a mulch, Antheus and, as Newbie says, the worms will take it down for you.
