To fleece or not to fleece!

I have two Pieris 'Forest Flames'. Come spring, they have beautiful pink leaves.... then we get a late frost and all the new growth dies. This has happened three years on the trot! So.... if I wrap them in a horticultural fleece, will this prevent the frost damaging it?
PS... They survive winter unscathed. The damage only occurs to the new growth.

Herein lies the answer.

 

It could do, depends on how hard the late frosts are.
I tend to find that fleece has little effect where it is actually touching the foliage.

 

Thank you pete. I'm working on a frame to prevent the fleece touching the foliage. It's worth a try!
