To scarify our not to scarify

    Hi
    My lawn is about 60%moss at the minute is a big area, should I scarify it is there a negitive to doing this, our is there another way to control the moss that's more affective ? I.e. liming feeding feris which is best ,

    It depends how you feel about it, and how big the area is. :smile:
    Many people will use a moss killer, sometimes with a feed, and then scarify once the moss has blackened. You can then re seed when conditions are warm enough, or just feed and mow.
    It can be hard work [scarifying] doing it by hand if it's a large space though.

    I don't tend to bother too much, a bit of weed and feed is usually enough for mine, and then the grass takes over once the weather is drier and wamer. Regular cutting [not too short] also helps to keep it looking half decent.
