I'm after some advice please, I have recently discovered I have a little toad friend living in the grass. I have no issue with him as such. He is welcome to stay as long as he wishes. However, He has burrowed himself down in the grass and I never know it's there until I almost stand on it. I have put some damp soil and a clump of grass in a pot on it's side and tried to encourage it to move into it's new house. Every-time I move it inside the pot it stays for about half hour and then moves back to it's original place in the grass. I am concerned I am going to clip it with the mower next time I cut the grass. Is there anything I can do to give the pot a more toad homely feel to it?

If it`s a plastic pot, why not just cut it in half and place it over were the toad is? He is then sheltered and you can see where he is.:dbgrtmb:

If it can help when we find frogs etc it is always after the rain under some wet wood. Sheltered, dark spot and definitely near some kind of water or humid area.

PS as if the toad will stay there when you say...

Thanks Miraflores, you'd be surprised though. He is quite persistent, i have moved him about 4 times over 4 days and i always find him where he was to begin with.

Actually, I think Dia's got the right idea. The toad is obviously determined to stay where it is and feels safest there [even though it isn't!]. If, despite you trying to entice it to a safer spot, it wants to stay where it is then a protective marker such as half a pot for the toad to shelter under is a good idea.:D
