Tomorrow, whilst I'm in work, mrs al is popping to the shops to buy me an E-cig pack.
Now, I don't know if the E-cig is classed as smoking or not, I believe the term is vape?, but I think it's better than the fags! Tbh, I haven't enjoyed smoking for a while, it really is a habit for me, one that I find difficult to kick completely.

Ithink the e-cig is a step in the right direction for me, I have tried one at the weekend, and it seems for me, it's a good replacement. With our 2nd just been born, and I'm 42 this year, I want to enjoy my boyS to the full.

Is the E-cig a cop out, or am I right in thinking that it is a good first step to quitting? I don't know, but I'm sure as hell going to do it. :blue thumb:

Now there's a coincidence, al. I began this post yesterday and there's a post in the replies about E-cigs. Some great tips too.

Good luck tomorrow, I'm doing the "Stoptober" one.

I quit last year , and done it before 4 years ago....the best think to do is quitting completely , it will be 2 weeks of pain , stress and bad mood , but after you will feel like a lion again ..everything will small horrible , your clothes yor car and so on....use patchs for the first 3/4 days and then go without....your body will be clean of nicotine after a week , the hard bits is the habit ......
Set your self a big reward .....and do not touch a sigarette ever again , a simple pafh will make you want to smoke again.

I've never smoked in my life, al, so I've no idea, personally, how hard it is to stop smoking, but I'm right behind you on this, go for it!!!:snork:

I don't smoke in the house, never have, even before the kids came along.
Don't smoke in the car either, it sounds a bit mad, but I hate the smell!!!

I'm always washing my hands anyway to rid the smell as I don't think clients, non smokers or smokers would appreciate the smell of the nicotine.

Good luck you'll need it. I've tried a whole list of things:-
Patches,Champix, E Cigs, hypnosis, acupuncture, you name it but I'm still puffing, altho did manage to give up for 3 months. You have a good chance as you say you don't enjoy smoking any longer... wish I didn't.Whatever works for you is the right thing and E cigs can work for some. They recently got a bad press as it wouldn't appear that much research has been done on the nicotine smoke which can be inhaled but surely must be healthier than fags!.If you REALLY want to give up I'm sure you'll succeed, hope you do for your health/family and bank balance!

It's never bothered me, al, that other people smoke. When I was in the RAF it seemed that everyone bar me smoked!!! In those days, you could buy cigs, when overseas, at 50p for 200!!:heehee: So, being the odd one out, I used to carry a packet of 20 cigs around with me to offer when out somewhere, and then used to take a packet of 200 to a party for free use by those that smoked......couldn't due that these days!!!:loll:

The expense is one part, seeing my kids grow up and to grow old with my wife is another. Ive noticed I don't have as much stamina anymore either, wether that's because I'm not 21 anymore or it is the fags or a combo of the 2.

As for ecigs I have found a new hobby now I make my own "mods"and have no intention of actually stopping vaping to me with the evidence I have read its as safe as drinking coffee.

Go for it Al! Check out whether you've got a quit smoking clinic close by.
Still have nicotine substitutes even now and i quit 7 years ago. They work!
