Thought the Mushrooms might have been an edible, but its looking like they could be Bitter Boletus, just doing a spore print now.

I'm the same with the mushrooms, daren't chance it, just in case I get it wrong.

The trouble is, with some mushrooms, there is no second chance. Amanita Phalloides (aka Deathcap) for example, looks (to the untrained eye) very similar to the field mushrooms you see in the shops, except that one mature cap contains enough poison to kill four healthy adults, with no known antidote.

I read up on Deathcap, that apparently takes several days too.

According to articles I read, it goes like this:

Day 0, within hours of eating them: You feel mild food poisoning effects, such as nausea, dizziness, and sometimes vomitting.

Day 1: Stomach cramps and muscular fatigue.

                  Day 2: Significant improvement.

Day 3: Feel fine, phew, got away with that one.

Day 4: Another day of feeling fine, but a bit tired, but hey, you're bound to be tired, you've just got over a mild food poisoning. Tiredness is normal under the circumstances isn't it?

Day 5: Very, very tired, and feeling generally a bit ill again. Maybe something is up.

Day 6: Total liver failure. If you're not already in hospital, game over. Or if you are already in hospital....

Day 7: Toxins shut down all your other vital organs. Game over.

They say milk thistle extract offers some protection against the toxins, but even the most hardcore advocates of herbal remedies admit that milk thistle isn't up to the job against Deathcap poisoning. They say it might be you a few extra hours, but won't cure you.

So I don't take any chances.
