I just discovered this blooming this morning. I've had this plant for more years than I care to remember, perhaps around twenty, and I've never known what it is, so we just call it the toilet brush!

It was a houseplant until about five years ago when I brought it here and wished it luck in the rockery, where it survived the heat and without water until the irrigation went in about three years ago. If I remember correctly, it bloomed late in the year as a houseplant as well.

    Any ideas .... ???

Good morning, Hornbeam, I see you're there! I'm bringing this back forward (????) as it's really puzzling me. Do you have any ideas. The leaves are succulent like a Clivia, but it's the strange feathery brush like flowers that are odd. Many thanks! [IMG]

LoL, its Haemanthus Albiflos, the more common one is red and known as the blood lily. It is South African and is I think Amember of the Ammarylis family. I had the red one about 20 years ago. [IMG]

Well, I am impressed, Strongy! Twenty years and I finally know what it is and heaven only knows where I got it from in the first place! I would LOVE a red or pink one ... it seems this white one is the most uncommon!

It's one of the first times you put in a name and the first thing that pops up is what you actually want and a picture as a bonus!

I like this plantzafrica .. was looking on there today for some of the seeds that came from Chiltern today, all (well, a few of each) I have potted up this evening.

It's alright, Pete, they're in a propagator house and I've shut the vents in case our anticipated cold spell and rains disturbs them. We were 32 today, 26 now, so will have to put the woolies on soon!

If either of you want bulblets, let me know, okay?

Chilli was okay ... really wasn't in the mood for it in this "cold" weather! [IMG]

Well, Pete, I wouldn't say "cold" but "cool".

    It's started to drizzle again ... I'm watching, I'm watching! :D
