Tomato Growing 2025

@JWK , your clock is going fast

For me Sweet Olive is a sure one, it's a very early outdoor baby plum variety. One plant will go into a large pot on the patio to be near kitchen and the rest probably just somewhere- I'll try them on wigwams between perennials and shrubs to see how it goes.
It's my first season with a greenhouse so plenty of pleasant planning ahead

 

I won't be kicking my tomatoes off until late February.

 

I have the list of varieties I'll grow ready for now.

 

I'll be growing more cherry/basket ones this year, I haven't had much success with 'ordinary' ones for quite some time now (don't know why )
and last year I had very good crops on the small ones, especially after I took them into the greenhouse.

 

Start of march for me again this year. Blight resistant ones outside, still to decide on the indoor ones.

 

I will only try Honeymoon F1 and Merrygold F1 this year as blight cut our harvest to nilch the last year.

 

I know I really should consider the 2024 tomato season over by now....!

Especially with the blight you can see in the background...

 

I have a ripening Sungold on my cuttings which are overwintering on the windowsill.

I will be growing Pink Grapefruit, Cocktail Crush, Big Mama and Sanjits Indian Curry.
I still have to give the greenhouse its annual wash/disinfect.
I will try to start my seeds off earlier than last year, I wanted to avoid having window sills full of seedlings so waited on the weather but it was a bad choice on my part. Not long enough growing time so back to my old routine. Feb/March sowing, in the house if necessary.
