Last year's taste test thread has run it's course http://gardenerscorner.co.uk/forum/edible-gardening/37262-tomato-taste-test-again.html

Lets start with who is growing what and when this year.

    Here's my list:

49 day Siberian (supposed to be the earliest fruiting)
Arnold F1 - Grafting rootstock (An experiment this year)
    Amish Paste
    Austin's Yellow Pear Beams
    Black Cherry
    Black Krim
Delicious (for the GC biggest fruit competition)
    Ferline F1
    Floridity (RHS Taste Test winner)
    Gardener's Delight
    New Girl F1
    Rosada
    Russian Black
    Sungold F1

I've sown my really early ones: Siberian, New Girl and Gardeners Delight at the end of Jan. They are under my grow lights and at the 3 leaf stage, about 6" high.
The rest I'll sow in a couple of weeks time.

Mine are sown (and up, and leggy-ish ...), same as always though, so not very exciting:

      Gardeners Delight
      Shirley F1
      Sungold F1

Thought I had more Sungold left from previous years, but only found 3 seeds in the packet, but they've all germinated and that will probably be enough. Only 10 seeds in the packet, I'm surprised I sowed more than 5 last year ... but maybe I did.

Still plenty of Gardeners Delight left ... that packet has 2009, 10, 11 and now 12 scribbled on it !! 75 seeds though, and I only grow 6 plants, so probably sow 10 seeds each year, so got to keep that packet alive for another 3 years - what do you reckon? :)

And the Shirley is a 50-seed packet, but I usually give a few of those away each year so they should only need to last one more year for 3 in total ...

      Scrooge signing out !!

Costoluto (sown last thurs and germinated)
San Marzano (sown last thurs and germinated)
Phil's Fantastic (For the GC large Tom comp, some germinated)

        To to be sown.

        Sungella
        Sungold F1
        Recurrant
        Few Others...maybe.

        That should be enough...

        Steve...:)

Delicious (GC comp, all germinated and doing well)
Big Boy F1 (GC comp, all germinated and doing well)

Harbinger (a first for me, was on special offer so why not, good germination)
          Gardeners Delight (old faithful)
San Marzano (poor germination from my first sowing but 2nd sowing much better)

Excellent results from Big Boy and San Marzano last year, hoping for the same this year :)

Stop press : Just found some 'Legend', so will probably try those too :)

Jeez some of you grow a lot of tomatoes!

                Mine are:
                San Marzano (28/2/12)
                Gardeners Delight (22/2/12)
                Ailsa Craig (22/2/12)

Dates are on so I can refer to it later in the year (and maybe 2013 too!)

Bit leggy but will be testing out a new idea - shallow fill a pot and plant seedling then earth up (equivalent of deep planting I think?) then if still leggy 'corkscrewing' the plant up wards as its potted on

My first year at growing some different sorts of tomatoes so:

                  Brandywine (iffy germination)
                  Super Marmande (good germination)
                  Pomadoro (very easy germination)
                  Tigerella (good germination)

Once I find the seeds! if I can remember rightly I'm also going to grow a few of:

                  Ailsa Craig
                  Alicante

                  Good luck to all.

I feel slightly more comfortable with the 30 varieties on my list now you've listed all of those 35 varieties above.

With lots of mine I'll only be growing a few plants to check out how well they grow, whether I like the toms and so I can save seeds from them.
