Have been used to growing a few plants each year but want to really increase my number of plants and also try some different varieties next year - now got much more space in garden. Had large crops last year with Gardeners Delight, Alicante and Sun Baby. Found Sun Baby far too sweet for my taste and I guess Alicante was maybe the best of the bunch taste-wise. My Roma toms were a disaster

I'm considering the following for next year none of which I've grown before:

    Shirley

    Brandywine
    Ferline

    Marmande Heirloom

What I'm after is good taste (don't like them over sweet, but like that old fashioned sharp taste) and a decent size fruit, not interested in supermarket 'perfect'. My toms usually used for general daily cooking/salads and preserving as sauces.

    Any input appreciated.

I grew marmande outdoors this year, pretty successful for as far north as`we are.

Have a look at this link: Vegetable Seeds : Vine Tomato Seed, Large

You may get some ideas there.

Also, as a bit of fun, now that you have the space, why not try growing seed from shop bought tomatoes, - you never know you could hit on a winner.
