Our tomato's are doing really well all of them have between 3-6 trusses on them, my question is how to I stop them from growing up any more and putting more trusses on as ive heard you have to 'top them off' when they get 4-6 trusses??

Also a couple of my plants seem to have split in to two main growing stems neither are an off shoot they just look like two main stems both with trusses on them?? is that normal??

    Many thanks

P.s if a piccy is needed ill run to the garden and get one.

    Hi there.

You can top them to stop the height growth and if you feel the plant has too many trusses then just pinch some out.

Double stems...I wouldn't worry about it, it's not that unusual, but don't forget the more trusses a plant has to feed could be a problem, so even if you have two stems I would still recommend treating it as a single plant.:thumb:

    Yes, I would agree.
If you want many but smaller fruits allow more trusses to develop, and maintain a regular feeding regime.
On indeterminate types I would prefer to stop at 4-5 trusses or however many it takes to reach the eves of my glasshouse, which is usually the same.
Stop by using a ver sharp knife to remove the stem immediately above a leaf.
A ragged cut will almost certainly allow the growth of fungal organisms.
