    2 tblsps mayonnaise
    salt and black pepper to taste

    mix well

    add about 4 tomatoes, cut in sections
    sliced onion, to taste

    let set about an hour

    We first ate this salad years ago in France. We were on our way to Spain with my in-laws and stopped overnight to visit some people my father-in-law knew from the war. The Frenchman's sister had married a Scot by the name of (believe it or not!) Johnny Walker! The Scot had died in the meantime but the sister lived with her relatives and she made this salad. Since then Hubby and I love this salad and eat it often. We had it this evening with fried fish, that made me think to pass it along for you to try. It might sound yukky, but we love mashing potatoes in the sauce, so I usually make up more sauce than needed for the salad.

    Hello, I love pickled beetroot, M-in-L very kindly pickled ours this year. I bought white malt vinegar to use and they were scrummy.
