    Hi Farquharson Ruth

I would not have thought it was that late to plant more. I would certainly sow more seed if I was concerned about losing the first batch.

Right David. it's not that late. It's just that us lot like to see how early we can get. Do keep them warm though Ruth.

yeah, its too early unless you have heat, 60F+ during the day and 50F at night.
Once they go blue they have been "checked" and will take a long time to recover.
A fresh sowing will probably catch them up and be stronger.

My greenhouse has been going down to about 7 degrees over night and they look ok, although having said that they are not growing very fast. Maybe I will go back to bringing them in the house at night.

Conventional wisdom is that you don't start feeding until the first fruits have set.

Kathy, normal multipurpose compost will have enough fertiliser in it to get the seedlings growing to truss size, then feed with potash (Tomorite or similar) but not before. [IMG]

I bought a pack of mixed tomato seeds off ebay and they are all going well in their pots. I think there are about 14 varieties. I love tomato and spend many happy hours looking for recipies especially mediteranian types. It has been a very bad start to the growing year and i have so many plants on my window sills waiting to go out to the polytunnel. My early plants which I put in raised beds are also going blue but hanging on in there. they have tried so hard bless them I am reluctant to pull them out.
