    hi all :)

ive just put some trailing tomato seeds in pots in my greenhouse but can anyone tell me how long they will take to germinate?
my greenhouse is warm by day but as yet i havent got heater in there at night (only just built the greenhouse) so will this have an effect on the seeds. i do have them in unheated propagators tho.

    thankyou

They need 18-21C to germinate and 10C to keep growing actively thereafter. They only take a few days to germinate (but you could being them into the house for a few days to give the germination a boost).

You'll probably get away with raising them in a cold greenhouse, but you probably won't gain much over waiting a couple of weeks to be honest ... so you might want to start them on a windowsill instead - once germinated put them in the greenhouse during the day tog et better light, and bring in at night, assuming the greenhouse is near your house!

They should germinate within a week if you keep them indoors

I usually germinate them on the kitchen windowsill and when I pot them up I move them to a small unheated green house and they usually grow away happily after a few days settling in, so to speak..

Then when they are big enough I harden them off and plant in growbags outside...
