My son has just moved house and has a spot against a wall facing west, wide enough for 2 or three growbags , where he wants to have a go at growing tomatoes. With 2 small children he doesn't want a greenhouse and fancies a couple of blowaways side by side, one for tomatoes, one for salad leaves. Can anyone recommend one which isn't too flimsy?and tall enough? Thanks!

Rather than blow away get a small lean to greenhouse with toughened safety glass.

Blow aways certainly live up to their name :frown:

From personal experience, the tomatoes didn't grow a well as the ones (same varieties) planted outside. The leaves yellowed up and the toms were somewhat bland. Then the blow away blew away in the Autumn. Thankfully :snork:

Also, the toms needed far more watering and despite the door being left open during the day, it seemed the beneficial insects were wary of entering.

For salad leaves I think they will do better grown outdoors rather than in a blow-away. All I can think of as an advantage in a blow-away is that you could stack a few more on the shelves, but they would need constant watering.
