My tomatoe plants have developed a mould like thing. The mouldy stuff is grey, and when knocked releases a powder. IT has made some of the stems flop and makes the tomatoes fall off the vine. Next year, i there anyway to prevent it, chemicals etc. And do i need to treat the greenhouse?

Hi V & FM. Sounds like Botrytis. It's caused by too damp an atmosphere. You may be able to save the rest by cutting off the affected areas and spraying with a fungicide, something like Dithane, and increasing the ventilation. As for treating the greenhouse, most folks would say it's good practice to clean it using something like Jeyes in early spring whether there has been a problem or not. Hope this helps. Cheers...freddy.

What freddy says is good; plus to try and keep the dampness down I only water my tom plants once in the morning (not last thing at night) - also be careful how much water you use and try and direct it just at the roots (don't splash it all over the plants).
