tomato's

    Help gang!!!!i have sooooo many tomato's i want to get some ideas of how to make things i can freeze.Appreciate any new ideas other than soup. :eek:

    Score them with a cross then pour over boiling water, peel back the skin and take out the core. Allow them to cool completely ,pack them into freezer bags and put the bag into a container to freeze. When frozen remove the container to reuse again. Takes up less freezer space.(Great for pasta sauces etc.)

    Baby toms e.g. Gardener's delight can be pickled or stored in olive oil. Either way they make a nice add-on to meals.
    Another way of preserving them is to slice and dry them either in a fan assisted oven or a proper dehydrator. You can then use them as "sun dried" in various recipies (or bottle them in oil) or rehydrate and add to stews soups and lots of other things. Dehydrating takes less space than freezing.

    josephine you could make tomato chutney, sure theres a recipe in here
