Too early for outdoor sowing?

Hi, i'm totally new to gardening but have purchased some HA to sow directly into the garden. Dont have the room I'm based on the border of London, is it still too cold to start sowing? Any tips to ensure they survive?

Good advice from Liz!! :D Wouldn't do it before May, personally - look at the instructions on the seed packet - in London you should be ok to follow them fairly exactly, I'd say.

 

Seeing as we are likely to have a few frosts this week ... wait as advised , the beginning of april is ideal as normally the ground is a little warmer giving them a better chance to get away.

 

I would wait til May - looking at the weather predictions we are in for a cold spring.

 

2 x Frans agree - must be advice worth following! :D

 

strongylodon - you're a lot further south than me - you should be a month in advance!! But my courgettes are coming on well!
