    In a word no!!!!

I sow some most years and get small carrots for Christmas most years.
I just sow whatever seeds I have left over, some never grow much root, just tops but it has not cost me anything, just time keeping them weeded.

Give it a try this year, keep a note of the date sown, then in future you will know if you are too late to sow or not.

    Good planting !!

Cheers MB, did try going almost organic this year but the flippin slug population has taken advantage and desroyed well over 50% of my crop, I'm now back to the slug pellet brigade. Gonna sow some more frost tolerant plants and hope to have home grown carrots and spuds to go with my sprouts and meat on christmas day :D

I have started some carrots in large pots in the shaded greenhouse, keeping them near the door to avoid searing heat, and they are making good tops so far. This also avoids root fly and slugs. The veg. are protected and will provide a small late crop in autumn; with luck, they'll be on our plates at Christmas!
