It's the day after I had 4 teeth removed and the morphines now warn off along with the happy feeling:lollol: and I've just had my first of many salt water mouth washes (although I never want another:euw:) and the painkillers I was given aren't exactly brilliant even when taking Ibuprofen and Paracetamol together...

oh and to top it off I was in hospital for ages because they thought I might have a chest infection....talk about going in for one problem and coming out with more....:(

I feel for you, I really do. Tooth pain has got to be the worst.
Keep taking the salt water rinse seems to very sound advise these days.

Sounds awful Aesculus, sure hope it all clears up soon.

Have you also tried an ice pack, that would help ease the pain along with the tablets.

Mr K said to be sure you take Ibuprofen 600 - they really work. Also the salt water rinse, as Capney said, tastes ghastly but is the best.

    Get well soon!

Sorry to hear your in pain.
Yes the Ibuprofen comes in different strengths.
    I have seen 200 400 and 600.
The 200 do no more than any other pain killer for me.
    Mouth pain is a nightmare.
I know salt water isn't very nice but it does work.
I hope you feel better very soon.

Not to encourage alcoholism, but when I broke a tooth several years ago and it became infected, the only thing that numbed the pain for me was a mouth wash of brandy. If the brandy doesn't kill the pain when applied locally, drink more and then the pain of the hangover will divert your attention away from the pain in you mouth:)

Sounds like a good excuse to me :P

Thanks everyone I should probably get used to the pain as after this I'm having a brace fitted and after that I'm having corrective Jaw Surgery to improve my overbite

Yer they put me to sleep for mine, there was no way they were touching me with a needle till they had:hehe: although for some reason that I've only noticed today is that I must of had 3 of those drip things as I've got two small holes in my left hand and when I woke up properly there was only;y one attached to my right...

Not nice having that many teeth taken out at once :(

I too had a brace fitted, but when I was in my early teens, again to correct an overbite. They took out 4 teeth in total, 2 top and 2 bottom - perfectly healthy teeth too, but t'was the only way to get the other teeth to straighten up into the spaces left.

Hope you feel better soon. It'll be worth it when your teeth look the business.

It's going to be worth it in the end.
Just ask my daughter, she didn't have as much treatment as you , but did wear a fixed brace top and bottom for 2 years.
She then had hooks in her teeth with elastic bands fitted.
Pulling her top jaw back and bottom jaw forward.
Then a night brace a sort of gum sheild at night for another year.
She was lucky she didnt have the surgery the braces worked.
But she says now , I'm so glad i went through it all.
    It was so worth it.

Yer I've also learnt to not take my medication at 7am when I wake up...as you can only take a maximum of 6 Ibuprofen tablets and 8 Paracetamol in a 24hr period which means if I take the tablets starting from 7am it means that from 7pm I can only have 2 paracetamol which isnt nearly enough pain relief which means I cant get to sleep:oops: (hence the jelly...)

just thought that I'd ask here first but is it normal for the pain to get worse??? as I'm in absolute &#*%/ agony:halp::halp::halp::halp::halp::halp: could this be because I've cut my paracetamol and Ibuprofen down to one of each? so that I can spread it better over a 24h period
