    Hi ALL

I know we all have our favourite plants for hanging baskets , but what works best for you and what variety performs best plus its getting to that time when we start planing.

Iam sure this would be helpful as I still strugle to pick a fushia that can last.

    1. Surfina petunia , just go on and on all summer I go for the good old blue white purple , the fancy ones ie doubles just dont last as long I have found

2.Geranium, trailing normaly go for tom cat to trail and mexica tom , upright Tommy, think I have a theme going on:D

3.Fushia, Marcus Graham & Cecile , seemed to do the best ??? up to now

4.Dishondra silver falls always looks good

    5.Trailing nepeta (a must have )

16 inch baskets coir liner water tray in the bottom filled with swell gel and slow realeas fertiliser

good quality hanging basket compost plant up first week of April straight in to green house then very early May they come out for the afternoon then back to bed in greenhouse (depending on the weather out they go) middle of May

I start tomato feed last week in May once a week, then up it to twice a week.

    Any tips that you use

I have a few fuchsia only baskets and I use Swingtime ,La Campanela and Marinka. I always keep taking dead flowers off to stop them producing seedheads . Only my choice though ..

Going to try pendulus begonias this year .

Violas look good in a basket.

I grew these last year. They flowered for months and I followed with hanging begonias.

Lovely violas Alice:thumbsup: I am getting a soft spot for these and pansies again , they did seem to go out of fashion - if that matters one jot.

I also struggle to find a fuschia that performs in the baskets I have in full sun + a bit of a breeze.

My top 5 basket plants - that must flower to the frosts are...........

Pendulous begonias + Begonia million kisses( begonia illumination in apricot and white , also trying scarlet this year)
    Petunia shock wave
    Bacopa
    Sanvitalia
    Friolina - a trailing viola

I am trying this year from plugs............
    Sunpatiens
Blue wonder geranium ( I know nothing about these ! )
    Bidens pirate treasure
