Top Dressing Mix

    It you have heavy clay, and hollow-tine for aeration, then "just [sharp] sand" will do ...

    Other than that I think you would probably be better to join-up on a Turf forum and ask there. I've read some and there are some UK ones that are sports-related (footie and golf) and I reckon they will have the best on-the-ground knowledge.

    Would be interested to hear what you find out though :)

      Cheers Kristen, my lawn is pretty free draining .The main purpose of the top dress was to lightly cover the re-seed areas , and to smooth out a couple of hollows . I'll use a 3 parts fine soil to one part sharp sand mix. I should not be too far off the mark with that. :dbgrtmb:

      70/30 ratio is a good standard mix for top dressing.
