    Hi

I just thought I would see if anyone has had a problem like this one.
I have recently started a clear out deleting some items photos, also some
programs which I never use and it come up with over 10,000 files
to delete from the trash bin so hit securely empty trash bin and it was ok
but then came up with the option to delete unlocked items and all items.
I hit all items but it refuses to delete these files which are left over 4000 of
them. Has anyone else come across this problem.

Thanks Ellen I think I done the trick I read through that link
ended up moving the programme files back to hard drive and
that seems to have done the trick. It is now deleting the photo's
Have to find some way of uninstalling the programme files,
looks like it was them that was stopping it deleting.
    Thanks for your help Ellen.:dbgrtmb:

You're welcome :) some files end up being a bit sticky, I think it's if they have parts in different areas of the hard drive

I wonder just as with a Windows PC if the Mac Pc maybe capable of booting up temporary under another Linux like Puppy in RAM. This allowing you to access anything on your drive to probably Copy files to a Flash Drive or delete them. You can download Puppy as a free ISO to burn to a CD. With Windows you can set the CMOS to first boot up from a CD if present before it attempts to boot from the hard drive. There are also some Windows repair disks available from EBay etc with a simple Linux to do likewise, so perhaps there are versions for a Mac.

I think there's a similar 'safe' boot for Macs as well as Windows, but offhand I don't know it; they're a bit more stable than Windows ;)

I actually meant the way you can set the CMOS boots up a PC so that it completely ignores Windows and boots up any Linux like Puppy from a disk. Perhaps the CMOS in a Mac can be set to completely ignore the Mac OS and boot up Puppy etc instead to allow you access to the drive. I will email a boffin who maintains sites and ask him.
