Trees in tubs

Have a new problem caused by house move.......

My new garden has a rather large patio/slabbed area which is gradually being filled with pots - also have a number of herbaceous beds. I would now like to improve the whole area which is somewhat flat by introducing a few small trees which will live in tubs on the open patio - could be fruit trees but prefer others - also want to keep to a maximum height of approx. 8ft. tall .
