    Hi all

Still sorting my new garden out. getting there slowly ... At the back of the garden I have an old brick wall that hubbie has just put trellis on top of. The brickwork is very crumbly but Ok, however the posts for the trellis have only been screwed and rawplugged on and it is not secure at all!! Any ideas what I can attach the wooden posts with.
    Bolts ?

    many thanks

Evening, t h, get some Metpost boltdowns. These are made specifically for putting fence posts atop of walls.

If its crumbly, then getting a good fixing is not going to be easy.
If you can find a good solid place to drill some holes you could try chemical fixings.
You drill the hole oversize and "glue" in short lenghts of threaded bar.
You can buy it either as an epoxy type gunnable filling, (which is not cheap) or I think you can still get the glass vials which you push in the hole and break with the threaded bar.
Cant really think of another way to fix to a crumbly wall without putting pressure on the bricks as rawl type bolts do.

as its only trellis, why not put wooden battens down the wall and fix the trellis to the top (the battens protrude as high as the trellis is)That was how i put trellis on my 6 foot fence
