Trellis over fence advice please

Hi there,

I am fairly new to gardening and would appreciate some advice please.

We want to add some trellis panels above our fence (primarily to deter our neighbours children!) but I'm not too sure how best to get plants growing on it. Some sections have lawn by the fence, so we could plant there (though the ground quality is poor and very damp), but other sections have paving by them so we would need to use planters I assume? I could use standard planters on the ground, but I'm not entirely sure how the plant will get up to the trellis... Sorry, I am a newbie

Would it be possible to use some sort of over-fence trough planter like these for the climbers, with trellis panels above the fence? Roughly how far apart would we need to place them to get a good spread? Any advice on an fast/far spreading climber also much appreciated.

You could always just buy a couple of climbers that will be quite rampant and cover most of the trelis which sits above paving.

There are quite a few climbers that fall into this box so you will have to be a bit more specific as to what you want. Flowers, scent, all year round cover, thorns etc?

What sort of problems are you having with the neighbours children?

I've been having problems with the family that back onto my back garden, but hopefully this is starting to be resolved..
