Just asking an opinion really, We've got hold of a 36' x 11' polytunnel and Mr Jangles is undecided whether to dig a trench for the polythene or to use wood as a base rail.
I think base rail is going to be best- no digging!!, not that I will be doing it !
What are others opinions of it ?, and does anyone know of a good video to watch to see how the professionals do it?. I've seen some but they just seem to 'slap' the wood and say '' there's the rail'', but don't actually show you how they have attached it and secured the plastic to it.
    Your thoughts guys.................

Oh great Marley, any advance tips will be great !!. Less arguments and all that HaHa. We even argue when we put our awning on the camper, and we've been doing it for 13+ years You would be amazed at how I can argue in a 'whisper' !!
Would be great to see your opinion on trenching- with getting the poly nice and drum tight. We are still at the 'clearing the area' stage. Going to have another bonfire in a bit.
      Shall await your pics

      Hi Jangles,

Trenching (in my opinion) is far superior as it actually holds the tunnel down to the ground. Don't forget you are actually erecting a giant kite and then growing plants in it. The added benefit of trenching is you can at a later date and on a warm sunny day further tighten the polythene by going round and stomping on the soil hold the trenched poly down.

There are of course other ways to anchor your tunnel if you decide to go with the base rail option, but I prefer the trenching option and would recommend this route.

I've trenched the covers on both of my tunnels, and will for my third later this year, and when I replace the covers on the original two. I've helped put covers on three more tunnels too, all where trenched in.

      Steve...:)
