Just got back from a trip to Cornwall and had the chance to visist the privately owned Trewidden Gardens near Penzance. What a brilliant place! Not as polished as nearby Trengwainton but had a fantastic half maintained half lost feel to it. A guided walk sheet (up dated monthly) pointed out areas of interest as did signs along the way. Many "Great" old and rare trees there especially magnolia and Rhododendron, a very Jurassic park tree fern pit, a whales tail (sculpted) in the small lake and alsorts of nooks and cranies. Well worth a visit I thought.
