Triangle pergola

I would like to build a triangle pergola but before I start bodging bits of wood together is there any apps where I can plan it first?

 

I use sketchup to create 3d designs of structures I want to build. It's free. My pergola was also designed on here too. This is a program though and not an app and you may find it a bit too complex for your needs. Here's a couple of designs I knocked up on it





Failing that just draw it to scale on a sheet of graph paper. Even though I have computer 3d programs at my disposal, you can't beat pencil to paper.

 

I do like the look of that, still Trying to work out how to attach the cross members on a triangle layout keeping them flat to the posts.

It depends on how strong you want it to be. Do you mean attaching the cross members to the upright posts or laying the posts on top of the cross members to form the roof?
