My daughter gave me a book about macro photography for gardeners and nature lovers. It prompted me to try out the macro potential of my 70-300mm lens as I've never really thought about using it for macro photos.
A nice day for it as the bees were really busy about the lavender.

Spider having lunch was taken with 50mm macro lens. Very difficult to get the exposure right as the spider was brightly back lit.

Thanks Freddy. It's really difficult trying to get the little blighters in focus and in flight as they move so fast. I took 167 shots and only ended up with a half dozen 'keepers'!!

That's the beauty of digital photography, one can always dump the 'rubbish'. But, credit where it's due. Sometimes, one can take a photo that is technically flawless, but for me it's having the imagination and foresight of spotting a potential 'good un', and you seem to possess this ability:blue thumb:

Hi Dave excellent images, thanks for sharing them with us,I always use my 70 x 300 lens for macro,I find that I don,t have to get as close to the subject although my images are,nt as sharp as yours are,but I still keep trying:)

Hi Dave, I think the "spider having lunch" shot works very well as the lack of background puts the spider right into your attention without background drawing your eye away. Good shots, Dave.:snork:

Looking good Dave. Another photographic avenue to explore.
