So now u tube want a fee for downloading stuff .Which I suppose is there right.
I can't now for instance download a song to GC without paying for the privilege.
I can have a months free trial which I am trying.
So when I download now I can't find it. Where does it go.
    Any guidance would be helpful.
    Hope I am making sence.

If you want to post a song, just post the link -

I don't download anything from YT so I asked Google where downloads are stored and it said...

YouTube Premium downloads are stored within the YouTube app itself, encrypted and not accessible through your device's file explorer, meaning they can only be viewed within the YouTube app.
    Here's a more detailed explanation:
    • Not a Traditional Download:
Unlike regular downloads, YouTube Premium downloads are not saved as independent files on your device.
    • App-Specific Storage:
They are stored within the YouTube app's data, encrypted and designed to be played only through the app.
    • Accessing Downloads:
      • Mobile: Go to your profile picture in the YouTube app, then select "Downloads".
      • PC: Go to the YouTube homepage, then click "Downloads" on the left-hand panel.
    • YouTube Premium Required:
Downloading videos is a feature exclusive to YouTube Premium subscribers.
    • Offline Playback:
Downloaded videos can be watched offline for up to 29 days.
    • Adjusting download settings:
You can adjust your download quality settings, as YouTube defaults to a standard low quality.
    • Troubleshooting:
If you're having trouble downloading videos, check your YouTube app settings, specifically the background and downloads section.
    • Multiple Browsers:
If using multiple browsers, users should stick to one browser to prevent download issues.

I think YouTube has always, in recent times, charged for downloads.
I also just post a link on here.

As others have said, you can click on the 'share' button in youtube, copy the link and paste it onto a post here. If you want to actually download and keep something, be it as a video or as a music file, there are ways to do that too - drop me a PM if this is what you want to do and I will happily help.

I have a number of Youtube videos saved on my favourites listing.

Edit: All of which are music.
