A plant I used to grow a few years ago was tuberose, but now it seems to not be available.
It belongs to the agave family, and is probably the most highly scented flower there is in the evenings.
Does anyone know where it is still; available in this country?

    Yeah thats it Nathan.
Not exactly a lot to choose from though.
I would be a bit wary about buying them on ebay as I do know that they dont usually flower a second time in this country. The tuber splits up into smaller ones, which dont get enough heat to ripen. You could be buying second year tubers.
I think they must have stopped importing them, I used to get them from garden centres 5 or 6 years ago.

I did have a good look, as you say lots of interesting plants.
I had a couple of small palms arrive today which I ordered last week from 'The Palm House'in Devon. I bought a Brahea Armata and a Phoenix Theophrastii. The're pretty small at the moment but I will grow them on the next few years in pots until they get too big, and then hopefully plant them in the garden. I went for the hardier types, but that remains to be seen, as it was -5 deg C here last night.

Holland,? I know Holland is the tops for bulbs etc. but it seems strange you cant buy them from the bulb companies over here.

I can't comment, I know that most of the best bulbs come from Holland, so I thought I would let you know, as you expressed concern that they may not flower.

    Will keep you posted.

    Nathan.

PS, ahve you worked out how to post smily faces yet? As I think I may know the cause ..... In the 'Full Reply Form', you may have Graemlins disabled, in one of the tick boxes below the text box.

    Pete,

After another 'quick' search on Google ...... Found their website Taylors Bulbs .

You may be able to ask them if there are any local nurseries that stock their products.

Yes its amazing, how these things happen. Its like when you buy a new car, afterwards all you keep seeing is ones the same as you've just bought.
Anyway I bought four tubers today, I think I'll try two outside, and two in the consevatory.
