Does Tulip Fire affect Tulips planted in containers? I would really like to get mine planted now.
I have planted them in October previously when I was unaware of this disease and had no problems. Was I just lucky?

I think tulip fire does affect bulbs in containers, but touch wood it has never affected any of mine. Once we get to the middle of October I think it's OK, but that's just my opinion.

I planted up some pots of tulip bulbs yesterday. They had been stored in the garage from last Spring and they are more of an experiment.

I'm not expecting new tulips bulbs until next week, but will probably wait until November to get them planted (in pots). That's just down to time constraints rather than anything else, but I'll be interested to hear what others think.

I don't see why tulip fire wouldn't affect bulbs in containers as it's spread by air borne spores as well as sclerotia on the outside of the bulb or left in soil.
With a container you can at least easily dump the entire contents and then refill with fresh soil/compost and replant for the next season.

Thanks @NigelJ, perhaps I have been lucky in the past, because that certainly makes sense.
