Can someone advise me on a sensible amount of tumbling toms i can put into a 12" hanging basket?I have them in canteen cups and they`re still only about 2".I know they say when doing a flower basket to pack them in but i`m not sure about these babies.Should i pot them on into 3" pots or let them be, to develope in the cups?I`ve no idea, the norm for me is to pot them on and then again into buckets of grow bag soil.I have 19 and was thinking 6 in each.

I bought 2 the other day and put them straight into a hanging basket, they are about 5" now and looking good. I put the basket out during the day but in the greenhouse at night for now. :D

I fit 4 plants in a 14" basket quite easily, and still get good crop.

4 is fine. There is nothing nicer than fresh tumbling toms every day.
Last year I was having at least 12 a day and was also giving them away.

I put herbs in with mine. I have 3 x 16" baskets, one with 3 x Tumbling Tom + Basil, one with 3 x Gartenperle tomatoes + Oregano and one with 3 x Balconi tomoatoes + parsley.

Righto....I'll put the toms in baskets on their own on very high brackets or the spawns'll scoff all the toms before they get to the table!!! :D

You can buy pulleys to raise and lower hanging baskets. This might be just what you need?

You don't need pulleys if you get the right type of basket. I have the ones that have stiff wires instead of chains and you just hold the bottom of the basket and lift it off the hook at the top.

Had 12 baskets like this of Gartenperle for 3 years now and very successful, suspended over the compost bins to save space. [IMG]

That reminds me - I must put my tumbling toms into the hanging baskets (3 per 12" basket). Just to say, put in plenty of swell-gell - it really helps, as they are such thirsty plants.
