i am growing tumbling toms for the first time this year.

The ones in the flower bed (ran out of places for them to tumble from!) are looking like nice little bushy tomato plants. But the ones that are tumbling?!!

They are running riot! I can't tell where one plant ends, and the next one starts (I think they took notes from my harbinger and gardeners delight plants, that ran amok after a series of storms - a random tangle, pulling down all their stakes, but that's another story!).

Back to my tumblers... Do I really just leave them be? I don't have to stop them trying to set too much fruit? Just feed, and stand WELL clear?! image.jpg

Yes, just let them get on with it. If you wanted to tidy them up a bit, I can't see any harm in giving them a trim though.

They are looking amazing. Leave them to it but talk to them nicely and feed with Tomorite ( or similar ) when the fruits start to ripen,

Thank you! I think I planted them out in mid May, and the soil had been warmed under a cloche for the previous week or so, so they got off to a good start.

Ahh, I've been feeding them since they set fruit - so maybe I started them on the hard stuff too early? They didn't have a lot of space though, so I felt sorry for them (they have since muscled the two rows of lettuce, and rocket out of the way - veritable cuckoos of the plant world!!)

Freddy, I've been trimming off leaves where they are trying to climb over my Thai basil and sweet bell peppers, so I think I'll keep the secateurs to hand there....
