    Hi there,

    Is useing poly cloches a good idea, and if so which is the best crops to grow within??.

    Would it be good to grow everythink in small cloche size tunnels????.

    How does one water and weed within, do they need to be portable on frames???????:scratch::scratch:

    Is there an oracle amongst you green people, with the knowledge and wisedom of age and experience.

    Many thanks:thku::thku:

    Well, I grown all my Veg in pots, and then plant out, so I suppose that comes to the same thing.

    I get despondent if I sow a row of something and either:

    1) nothing comes up
    2) Nothing comes up for ages, then it rains, then all the seeds germinate
    3) The slugs eat all / most / a disappointing number of plants
    4) The plants grow perfectly but 50,000 thousand lettuces all mature simultaneously within the space of a week :(

    and so on.

    So my approach has been to raise plants, given them the best possible start, and then try to keep them alive after planting out.

    Strikes me that is pretty similar to putting a cloche over them; improving the odds (not to mention potentially getting an earlier crop)

    I swear by enviromesh over water pipe hoops for all brasicas also leeks.

    Im not wonderfully convinced by poly cloches but enviromesh is worth it alone for the fact it stops butterflys further it creates a microclimate.
