Our, still yet young, twisted maple is covered in very, very sticky stuff. The bark shines, the leaves are affected also. Probably aphids but what do we do about it?

Good evening Broads and welcome to the site. It sounds as if it could be Honeydew, which is secreted by Aphids, spray the pest with Provado. Any chance of a pic to be certain?

    Hi Daitheplant.
I went out to look at the tree from a point of view of taking a photo. Apart from a few leaves that have holes in it looks ok apart from the branches and upper surfaces of the leaves that are exceedingly sticky almost as sticky as the resin that appears from some knots in other trees.

No sign of Aphids at all? No pests on the back of leaves? No ants?

Can't see anything on the back of the leaves just a very sticky bark on the branches and on the top side of the leaves.
