Visited Tyneham village (remains of) this afternoon as we hadn't been for many years although it is now only a few miles away.
As some will know the village was cleared in 1943, decided on by Churchill. for army practice for the D day landings using the buildings for anticipated house to house fighting.

Nice photos Strongy , I did know the story of the village. One thing on the photo of Worbarrow Tout there appear to be a giant number "3" , is that correct ?

Yep! MOD Harry, only open at certain times , nearly all the land around Tyneham is MOD. The markers are all around so are old Tanks etc used for assault practice.
The poor tenants of Tyneham had to leave immediately, left all the veg they were growing (Dig for Britain) and never received any compensation.
'Well the was a war on'!!!!!:frown:
