Hi, I'm new here. I have just seen a hole next to a stone in my garden with bees flying in and out. Is it ok to leave it alone, or should I do something about it

i'd leave it alone. not sure u can legally do anything about bees now (extermination), what with bee numbers dropping recently. if it is allowed, i dont think it should be!

Bees are usually peaceful creatures that have no interest at all in what humans are up to. I'd leave it alone. If you have small kids that might harrass them out of curiosity, then we might have to think again.

I would leave the bees alone Hansi. They do no harm and won't cause you any problem if you leave them to their own business.

Hi Hansi, I agree with what's been said. If you've got bee's there leave well alone. They won't bother you and they'll do a lot of good. It's normal practice for them to use old mouse holes and the like as a nest. I've had bees in my compost heap for the last 2 years and rather than disturb them I've just added to it and not dug any out.

I would have thought these are just bumble bees at this time of year.

    What colour are their bottoms?
