Underplanting

    I know Hornbeam is into underplanting roses with geraniums - so am I, this one always does well for me.
    Campanula Elizabeth (under a DA rose)

    other favourite companion plants are alliums - do you do that too, Waco? Problem I found was trying to control the vast numbers of little bulbs - they became thugs. (And I smel of onion for ever after dealing with one vast batch of them!)

    great idea anything to stop the weeds! I know what you mean about the smell though, I once had a curry plant, it looked lovely but I had to ungarden it because ot the smell.

    Hi Waco, that campanula is great, will have to put it on my list, I'm trying to buy loads of varieties of plants called Elizabeth!
    I love alliums in other peoples' gardens but I too hate the smell :( I'm persisting with the curry plant in an out of the way place where nobody [me or animals] brushes past it.

    I have a very nice clematis montana "elizabeth" has red leaf, and pink flower, not as rampant as white one.
