I have a small mammal burrowing just beneath the surface of my garden, causing havoc by lifting earth and plants, turfing out bulbs and ejecting soil onto the surface occasionally. There is quite a network of tunnels now of about 1.5" in width and I fear for my new flowers and spring flowering bulbs! Smaller than a mole. Shrew or vole have been suggested, but I'm not sure. Help!

    Mtngirl,

Ooooooeer, what a palava. Have you asked your local vet or council about small burrowing mammals that are known to your area? May sound strange but they really might know. (i worked as a v. nurse b4 changing careers and the vets often know these things.

Just a thought, and good luck :D

Oh anda very warm welcome :D

Welcome mtngirl you can get humane traps for moles voles or shrews once caught you can set them free, it sounds like a mole from the size of the hole, you can try to either dig them out or smoke them out but you could injure it.If you google "mole traps" you will get an abundant choice of lethal and non lethal traps.
