Solved unidentified plant with one leaf

Hlloo there,
last 2 years this has been growing in our garden. it grows one big leaf then that's it. no more leaves or flowers appear. would love to know what it is and how we can get it to grow properly this year

 

Tulip? It's the right time of year.

 

It looks rather like a Canna leaf to me. Strange growth habit though. It could just be a weak tuner or one that comes into growth too late. Where in the country are you?

I've had this when tulips are planted too deeply, turns them blind

 

Thanks for the replies. Looks like I'll have to dig it up at the weekend and replant shallower

 

Maybe better to wait until leaves died back..then move it.
Or treat yourself to a few Tulips in the autumn ...flowers/ colours that you like.
So much to choose from.

does anyone know what this is? There’s a few growing in my friends garden

 

Looks like it could be Marestail/Horsetail. A particularly difficult weed to deal with.
