I bought this as a flowering shrub but don't know what it is. The leaves are scented and someone said it is a herb, but didn't know what one. Can anyone please ID it for us? Thanks!

It looks like a Salvia microphylla - blackcurrent sage, which has fragrant leaves and has a wide lower lip on the flower. It goes by the name of S. microphylla, S. greggii or S. xjamensis. Technically there are slight differences between them, but they are generally classed as a single group.

Its a small woody shrub. Being a shrub you shouldn't cut it back to ground level in the autumn. But you can prune it for shape in the spring. It should flower for a very long period.
