Unknown shrub

    Hi , i have no idea of the name of this shrub, if it is a shrub ? .. ive asked the local Nursery and they could not help and a few friends, hopefully folk here will know the answer ..
    it is a very late flowering shrub and is at its best about now Thankyou .. Michael

      :) Hello MichaelJohn and welcome to GC.

      At a guess I would say Mirabilis jalapa (the Marvel of Peru or Four O'clock Flower). Is it scented and do the flowers open late afternoon?

      You don't specify your location that it would still be blooming ... they are wild here and are just about finishing for the season. They self-seed. Here are some pictures.

      As Silver surfer suggested, a larger picture would be more useful however for proper identification.

        Hey Victoria i think your right and many thanks .. the pictures you sent on the link are spot on .. i live in Essex near london .. the plant is actually growing in my neighbours garden and has been for years .. it always self seeds itself.. all these years he has never know the name of it and has never even tried to find out .. so thanks so much again, i shall let him in on the secret later :dbgrtmb: Micky
