I have about 50 aubrieta plants grown from seed and ready to plant into the ground.

Problem, they are for a relative about 200 miles away and I was going over there about now to plant them. It has been decided (by the powers that be) that we won't go until September!

I don't really have the space to put them in the ground until then, will they survive in pots? ;)

I think you'd better overrule the powers that be! You'll be over-run by aubretias!!
Really, I should think mostly they'll survive, but it's hardly ideal to keep them in pots. I think what I would do would be to keep trimming them back, as apart from anything else, that should keep the roots from going too mad, and make them more easy to handle when you finally get on your journey!

You have a relative that can accommodate 50 aubretia plants!!!!!!!!

well if he has room for that lot he must have plenty of money to buy stuff without you running it on for him??????

You don't say what size but if they are in 2.5" - 3" pots, 1st. year aubretia should be fine. I would keep them altogether in a block so watering is easy. Also change them around a bit and put the outside ones to the middle so you get nice bushy plants. If they are small plugs then I think it would be safer to give them a bit more root room.

Sorry Waco, it is not like that, and it was my idea anyway of doing this.

Pal, Quite right, Mrs DAG is watching, and she admits that she is responsible (must mark that on the calendar!) ....No need to keep your head down roders, she is venting her feelings on the weather man at the moment! :D :D

elainefiz: Showing off? All I did (same as last year) is sow 2 trays of seeds and they all came up!

    What's unusual about that? ;)

Oh no offence taken, I took it as a compliment, so keep it coming! :D

Damping off...... I bottom water as much as possible, and keep the greenhouse as ventilated as I can, I am considering getting a fan in there sometime.

Hey, just remembered somebody on GC was going to experiment with solar fans, but forgotten who?
    Memory gone again! ;)
