One of my tomatoes has produced this flower. I think I had one like this years ago(pre internet), and never found out what it was. I did a Google reverse search, and there weren’t many results. Some called it a megabloom, and others were showing them on heirloom varieties. This one has lost its tag, buts it’s either a Moskvitch, or a Super Marmande. So you know why it’s done this?

Some varieties produce megablooms, they are several flowers fused together. You'll end up with a large bumpy lumpy fruit.

Marmande usually produces one like that on each truss, I used to cut them off as they produce deformed fruits, but it's up to you as it will still be edible.

I leave them alone and let them fruit … I love those big lumpy bumpy tomatoes. Great sliced and drizzled with EVOO and balsamic and scattered with basil for a tomato salad. You have to pay more for them in the supermarkets :heehee:

Fasciation when because of mechanical damage to a stem or a bud, two or more growths fuse together.

I don't like the fact that that first one has a massive core that seems to take up most of the fruit.
I've never seen this kind of deformed tomato on sale in supermarkets.

The others on the truss usually turn out to be normal beefsteak shape.

Not the kind I'm thinking of really, these are mostly core with fruit around the outside in lumps.
They are similar to the other ones that form on the truss.
