I've just fed and watered my Orchid and noticed the compost it's in is crawling with tiny, tiny silver insect bug things. They're not silverfish, and can jump very high. What on earth are they and how do I get rid of them?!

almost certainly springtails, they are quite harmless and will eat mould, fungus and spores, they won't damage your Orchids. I would think the only way to get rid of them would be to change the media your Orchids are planted in.

Cheers - it's been repotted in new medium. I repotted it in May and a lot of the plant was rotting, coupled with my overwatering. Sterilised the pot and vase it was in as well. Eurgh!
