I've had a security warning saying I need to update my Chrome browser, but how do I do it.

Looking at the chrome tab it says updating is disabled be the administrator.

My question is, who is this person and how do I overcome him, and allow updates?

What version of Windoze are you using Pete?
Normally unless you configure Windows to allow other users the primary user is the 'administrator'. If you set a password when doing your initial installation you'll need to 'sign-in' using that to get access to admin.

This is what my page saysVersion 40.0.2214.111 m

Google Chrome is up to date.

Good morning Pete my friend:smile: It should update its self automatically but if you want to do it manually,Click the Chrome menu [IMG] on the browser toolbar and select About Google Chrome. The current version number is the series of numbers beneath the "Google Chrome" heading. Chrome will check for updates when you're on this page. Click Relaunch to apply any available update.

It says "updates are disabled by the administrator".
It wont update automatically, or let me update it.

      Version 39.0.2171.95 m

      Windows 8.1 I think.

I paid PC World to set it up for me just over a year ago, but it was all a bit too much to take on board, in ten minutes, when I collected it.

So passwords etc. god knows what they are or where I put them to sign in.

Just found out my online banking has been hacked, account now shut down, so might just set fire to this piece of technological junk.
Bank suggests I get it checked for virus, I'd rather dump it to be honest.

Step 02. Type in regedit on the run.

      Step 03. go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Update

Step 04. Double Click on the UpdateDefault

Step 05. Change the value from 0 to 1.

Step 06. Restart your Chrome Browser and try to update again.
