Hi Plotty, your sites a fab booster for me as it lets me know im doing ok with our allotment in the comfort of my own home.so far i havnt had any problems with whitefly, only thing so far is i lost a couple of cabbages through cut worm but not too serious.pulled out the peas today as the last of them were shrivelled up and bitter but im not complaining as theyve given me extra energy whilst weeding the rest of the plot! :D

Hi Plotty.Again it has been a pleasure to view your update of yours and Daniels plots.
The produce as usual look brilliant with no sign of pest damage.

Loved the pictures as well of both vegetables and flowers. At least it is an incentive to Daniel to keep going with his plots as well.

Hope ypou all have a very nice holiday in your Snowdonian Retreat.

    Have a save journey

PS Hurry back, cannot wait until the next update.

    Hi Steve,
I am fascinated each time I see an entry on your blog. I got my allotment at Easter and it seems to be taking forever to get it looking ok.

I have been lucky enough to be able to grow some stuff, but the battle with the weeds (nettles, bindweed comfrey, thistles, couch grass) is never ending.

I have potted up some comfrey which I have been using as fertilizer and my sweetcorn is bigger than everyone elses, so I guess something is going right.

At the moment I can't wait for summer to be over so I can start winning the battle with the weeds.

Keep up the blog, its great. Enjoy your break.

    Sally B.

    Hi Sally B.
Don't worry to much about the battle with the weeds on your allotment as me and my husband have been doing the battle with ours and we are still fighting, though with work commitments and the weather it is hard trying to keep 30 pole weed free, especially when the person next to you leaves theirs to go to weed and seed,so it is an uphill struggle.

We have found that all the plot holders that have retired have the cleanest plots, because most of them spend all day everyday working on them.

We find that the weather stays fine all day, then come the evening and weekend,it rains so that puts paid to that, though this last couple of weeks has been an exception.

We are considering doing what Plotty has done with the deep bed system,to make it more managable.

Keep trying, like us you will get there in the end,we hope.

    Roll on retirement
