I seem to be having a problem uploading pictures again. I uploaded a picture and chose Full Image from the "Attached Files" box. I could then see the picture in the editing box, but when I pressed preview I got the following, which will presumably be the same when I press "Create Thread".
    2011_06070011.JPG

It has worked in the past. Is it just me or is there a bug?

Edit When I posted = it posted correctly as above. But when I previewed, it showed this
    View attachment 3269
If I clicked on this link - it gave an error.

I've seen that too (on preview). Not sure if its is always / sometimes or something else!

I'l keep an eye out and report back if I see anything that points to a cause.

Happened to me too, but I forgot to mention it because I immediately changed to inputting all my text/links/image links first and only uploading any images immediately before submitting post after all/any previewing.

I always do that anyway, so haven't noticed anything wrong.

It's so much easier on here because I type my text (leaving a couple of lines for each photo) whilst the photos are being uploaded to the bottom of the page. Then place the cursor where I want a photo and click on 'Full Image' (I like being able to see the thumbnail as it's easy to pick the right image to insert). It seems to be a much faster process that way as I don't have to wait whilst the photos are uploading.

I think the whole photo uploading thing is one of the best I've seen implemented on the web. The software used for my Blog (Wordpress) has similar, and allows drag & drop, although by the time I've manipulated both windows to be side-by-side its a bit 6-of-one ...

Some aspects are a bit goofy though - after inserting images it seems to muck up the cursor position momentarily, so I insert my pictures bottom-up - working downwards seems to be harder

After I've loaded one picture I just click the cursor on the text above the picture and scroll down. Works OK every time.

I, also, keep "Watched Threads" open all the time and just refresh. This works fine whereas on the old forum the threads timed out and dropped off the page.

        Test post!

The url of the image at bottom of post immediately after uploading is this:
        http://gardenerscorner.co.uk/forum/...2/?temp_hash=b45505c5e265487eb66761762b67e9c1

After inserting the full sized image in the post the url is this
        http://gardenerscorner.co.uk/forum/data/attachments/3/3272-c1cd0297c5339288dc3c294433792be0.jpg

Then after previewing the url changes to this BBCode

        Code:
        [ATTACH=full]3272[/ATTACH]
(which displayed as a hyperlink not an image - in Preview 'View attachment 3272', but displayed as an image on posting.

        compo homebase woody.jpg

So whilst probably not an 'error', just inconvenient that once you've previewed you can't see the pictures any more until after posting.

Works for me too, but should not have to do that, should maintain cursor position IMO, hence I do bottom-up when adding pictures.

Thanks for your help Kristen, Shiney and Scrungy.

I guess it does work OK if you can work exactly how to do it. Though it does sound like a bug if preview doesn't preview properly.

I have to say I use PhotoBucket & Imageshak nearly allof the time as I find it a much easier way to use & store photos instead of cluttering my hard drive...

I hate photos hosted offsite. Plenty disappear later so the thread becomes useless, and lots of the "Just paste this into your POST" code that people will be encouraged to use has both a URL and an IMG tag, so when you click thinking you will see a larger version in-the-page you get suckered into visiting the hosting site instead - which then takes ages to open up a raft of jiggling advertisements telling me that I am the lucky 1,000,000th visitor and therefore a guaranteed winner ... yeah, and I'm a monkey's uncle ...

Well luckily I can just ignore all the stupid advertising & so far the only pics of mine that have disappeared have been because I deleted them.. I have always done it like that for years now, but hey we all do it what way suits us best..

Yeah, but I'm sure you know enough to post a link so the photo is embedded in a way that folk can see it properly and enjoy it :). Its the others who are less savvy who just cut&paste the default link that provides a thumbnail only and carts you off to their site to try to flog you stuff that annoy me.
